Description
Adderley England Flower Vase. C. 1930. Compelling classic shape with two different sides to the vase. One is wildflowers and the other is a bouquet of peonies. The cross-hatching hand painted design is outstanding. The last pic is of Stoke-on-Trent where Adderley potters were located. A rather interesting story of English pottery. You can get effects similar to watercolor paintings on pottery if you use an underglaze that is both thin enough and has enough colorant in it to minimize fading. These semi-moist underglaze pans work quite well for creating watercolor-like effects—they are much easier to control than liquid underglazes when you are seeking wash effects. It is without doubt a potter's work of art. The last pic is of Stoke-on-Trent so that the vase will remember it's ancestry. Dimensions are 10"H X 7"W...(opening is 2¼") Questions will be answered within 24 hrs. and combined shipping is possible. Kind regards.
