"Talibon" or "Talibong" sword
The exaggerated blade belly and unique hilt ,
unique to this rare style .
Generally found in the northern Philippines islands
these were used from the late Spanish colonial era through the ending days of the Spanish American war
Used for both fighting and hunting,
this blade shape is ideal for slashing and stabbing .
The hilt wraps around protecting the fingers , and allowing for hardier swing resulting in a very powerful and deadly cut !

Overall length is about 22 inches in the scabbard
The 17” blade has a few minor forging flaws & dings from real combat
It measures about 21” from point to pommel
The blade shows typical marks from primitive hand sharpening,
The sheath has the original hand twisted fiber reinforcing bands , there is a single copper wire near the top of the scabbard ,
there is minor wood damage / slivers missing around the throat.
The hilt is hand carved , matching the motif on the sheath ( maybe a stylized crocodile? )
Condition is "Used"..
