Description
Royal Adderley (Ridgway Potteries, Ltd.) England Fine Bone China Open Sugar Bowl & Creamer Pitcher Set.There are many patterns made by Adderley Fine Bone China with a similar motif and style, including "Carlton", but I have been unable to identify this specific pattern.
The Sugar Bowl measures 2" Height x 3" Width. The Creamer is 2-3/4" Height x 2-3/4" Width x 4" Length (at spout and handle).
Adderley's is perhaps most famous for it's early 19th Century Blue Chelsea pottery. Royal Adderley was a manufacturer of china ware at the Adderley Works, Sutherland Road, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. Adderley was taken over by Ridgway Potteries Ltd. in 1947 - but wares continued to be produced with the Adderley's name. In December 1949 the business of Floral China Co. Ltd. was also taken over by Ridgways (Bedford Works) Ltd. who were part of the Lawley Group. The business then traded as Adderley Floral & Figurine China Co. Ltd. In 1956 the business name was changed to Adderley Floral China Works (Ridgway Potteries Ltd). The business operated as a division of Ridgway Potteries Ltd and in 1972 became part of Royal Doulton Tableware.
This black printed backstamp with 'Ridgway Potteries Ltd., 1789, Royal Adderley, Fine Bone China, England' was used from c. 1964 until 1988, dating these pieces to that period. There are many patterns made by Adderly Fine Bone China with a similar motif and style, including "Carlton", but I have been unable to identify this specific pattern.
I have two other similar English Bone China Sugar & Creamer Sets currently listed. They are Royal Albert and Aynsley.
I will be happy to combine multiple items for shipping. I also offer multiple item discounts from all of my listings. Thank you.
